What Is Abortion Pill Reversal?
A medication abortion generally uses two medications. The first, mifepristone, blocks the effects of progesterone, a hormone needed to support pregnancy. The second medication, misoprostol, causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy.
The treatment commonly referred to as abortion pill reversal involves a licensed medical professional prescribing progesterone after mifepristone has been taken and before the medication-abortion process has been completed. The goal is to try to support the continuation of the pregnancy.
